Dental Implants Treatment F.A.Q.
The best number of implants to place is entirely dependent on a patient’s anatomy. In general, we’ve found that placing four implants provides the best long-term success.
However, if additional implants are required or necessary for any particular case, they will be placed at no additional charge. Each patient’s unique needs determine a treatment plan, not a certain number of implants. Do not fall for the “additional implants cost more because more is better” marketing tactic.
Nederland Family Dental provides patients with a 5-year unconditional warranty on our teeth and our implants. Dental implants have around a 95% success rate and the materials we offer are the most durable of their kind.
If anything happens within a 5-year period that keeps you from smiling, we will take care of it, no exceptions.
After performing many dental implant cases, we’ve perfected a variety of bone grafting techniques that will allow for successful implant placement on the day of extractions.
In very rare cases, patients with severe bone loss—typically due to decades of being without teeth—may require an extra surgery known as sinus augmentation.
These patients can incur additional charges and can sometimes expect an average wait time of four months before the augmented bone is ready to receive implants.
A full-arch procedure is a major surgery that should not be taken lightly. With that said, we’ve found that many patients are genuinely surprised by how little pain they experience during and after the procedure, and by how fast they recover. Though each patient has their own level of discomfort during the recovery process, most patients (depending on their responsibilities) return to work in less than a week from the day of the procedure.
Patients will be advised on what to expect throughout their recovery, and medication and aftercare instructions are provided.
Nederland Family Dental works with several preferred third-party finance companies that offer affordable payment plans for up to 90 months with low interest for patients who are approved.
Call a Nederland Family Dental patient care coordinator for more information or to apply.
After any dental implant surgery, a minimum of 90-days healing time and a “soft diet” is required. We recommend any foods that are soft enough to cut with the side of a fork.
A soft diet allows for successful osseointegration, which means allowing your new implants to fuse with your bone. After a 90-day follow up, most patients are free to eat whatever they like, just as they would with their natural teeth!
Your new smile will be cared for in a similar fashion as your natural one: practice proper oral hygiene and brush your teeth, gums, cheeks, palate, and tongue just like normal.
The only significant difference is that you will now be using a water flosser to irrigate the space between your bridges and your gums, where food debris can sometimes get trapped. Keeping your implants clean will ensure their success and longevity.
Every case is different but most patients will return either once or twice a year for a routine checkup and cleaning, which allows us to ensure that everything is up to par.
Your bridges will be removed, polished, and replaced, ensuring that your hybrid bridges last for decades to come.
Sedation Dentistry F.A.Q.
Did you know that people with dental phobias are more likely to have cavities and missing teeth? A study in the British Dental Journal found that people with dental phobias had a lower oral health-related quality of life compared to people without a dental phobia. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way!
Sedation dentistry provides a safe, stress-free way for people with dental phobias to get dental care. Conscious sedation simply involves taking oral medication before your dental procedure. With this type of sedation, you can still answer questions during your procedure, yet feel relaxed and worry-free. Some patients even fall asleep during their dental procedure. Either way, since you won’t be aware of time passing, your dental treatment will be over before you know it.
Your Sedation Dentistry Appointment
Before taking advantage of sedation dentistry, your dentist will review your medical history and current medications to determine if you’re a good candidate. On the day of your procedure, you will take the medication in the dental office so your dentist can monitor your vitals. You may feel groggy after the procedure, so you will need a ride home. However, you should feel back to normal the next day!

Your dentist may recommend dental sedation in Nederland, TX, for various reasons and will always discuss these with you.
It could be that you:
- Have an easy gag reflex
- Are undergoing multiple treatments
- Are undergoing an invasive procedure
- Are undergoing a complex oral surgery
- Feel anxious or afraid at the dentist
Our dental office offers two types of sedation—oral conscious sedation and IV sedation. Oral sedation means you may not remember much of your treatment, and the same is true with the IV option.
However, IV sedation is more potent and gives anxious patients added peace of mind. Either option will require a friend or loved one to drive you to and from treatment. And you should rest for the remainder of the day and hold off on important decisions until the following day.

Sedation Dentistry
If you are anxious about your appointment, we offer sedation to help you relax. Many patients appreciate sedation because it gives them very little sense of time. While you are still conscious, you may not actually remember your appointment. Sedation is also useful for patients who have lengthy treatment appointments.
We offer complimentary headphones/iPods during your appointment to disguise the sounds of your procedure. You are welcome to bring your own music, as well.
We also take extra time getting to know our patients so that we have a trusting relationship. If you have trouble getting numb or if you experience anxiety, don’t hold back that information. We can take extra steps to make sure you feel good about your treatment and to avoid pain. Call our office to learn more about sedation dentistry.
